Keta

So summer is half over and i have only posted once since the summer started....lets just say once it started it went and if i stopped running summer was going to get away from me. Since i have posted i have continued working my three nanny jobs, gone to work at my aunts for a week, gone to orientation, and Colorado for a wedding and somewhere in there i have helped teach a summer camp at the ranch. crazy? yes! but i love it!!!
So today i got to play (babysit) my bosses daughter who for some reason cant say "Katie" and has given me the name "Keta" pronounced "Key-ta" and yes i LOVE it!! i have known this kid since the day she came home from the hospital and i have gotten to watch her grow and become a big sister herself. today me and my little mini me made mac n' cheese for lunch and ran laps around the house...what ever is amusing for a 22 month old to run circles around the house while her sister tries to sleep is beyond me, but whatever works right?
life besides an occasional adventure is good but crazy getting ready for school. now i am getting ready to continue on with the three jobs and hopefully pick up a few more babysitting jobs, head off to fish camp, go to mississippi and possibly go stay with my aunt one last time. oh yeah and help with the horse camp. have i mentioned all this will be done before school starts....and that i am not completely ready to go? yep. its true. but it will ill work out. i have faith. :) well pray for some rain, it hasn't rained all summer and i am pretty sure if it doesn't we will set a new record...GO TEXAS!!!! alright thats all for now :)

Summer Time In Texas

well lets just say summer started off with a bang!!! as you all know i work at a therapeutic riding center near my house and once summer stars, we completely switch gears and host a summer riding camp monday through thursday and on my days off from work, i have been working that. well when you work at a barn you risk getting bit by bugs...all sorts of bugs. well last summer i got stung by a scorpion and today i brought home a tick. yes you read that right, A TICK! it was nasty!! besides almost having a complete and total breakdown i got it off and safely flushed down the toilet. :)
Back to the working at the barn situation...when you work at a barn you are not trying to impress anyone, well at least i am not, so therefore getting dirty is probably on the list of things to do even if you dont want to do it. well today i taught me almost two year old little cousin how to eat whip cream out of the squirt bottle...she loved it! then i went over and squirted her mom with it which initiated a whip cream war! lets just say four adults vs thirteen hyped up on sugar kids with ONE bottle of whip cream, kids win. but it was fun and something that not all "city" kids get to do. so needless to say it was fun.
well its officially the start of summer....
oh and by the way it was 103 today....

Vaulting

For those of you that dont know, vaulting is a combo of dance, gymnastics and horseback riding all in one. Its a ton of fun and somthing that my friend and i have gotten the chance to do lately. Two of the "tricks" that we have learned so far are you basic kneeling and standing on the horse. Sounds easy and is while the horse is standing still, but as soon as the horse takes a step you balance is put to the test. My friend and i ride double and it is a ton of fun learning to trust each other and the horse. We have both succesfully completed these tricks and are ready to learn more. I might post pictures soon, not sure though.

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY Y'ALL!! :)

From the Mouths of Babes.....

Today i helped teach lessons at the ranch i volunteer at. i love it! well today we had three classes, easy no big deal right? WRONG! i swear theses monday classes have the most attitude and can be so hard to work with! well after one fit had been thrown because a little girl couldnt ride the horse she wanted and making it through two of the three classes it was time for our last and biggest class. In this big class there is a little girl who is five, we'll call her macy. well macy, because she is so small rides our smallest horse josey. josey is about 28 years old and wouldnt hurt a fly. We let macy ride bareback today (without a saddle) and she loved it, she thought it was great to trot around and see that she could hang on. we almost lost her a couple of times but she hung on. Oh, i should mention, right before she got on she looked at me and goes "hey, hey, hey you in the pink, i know your name, its katie" and i was like yep. well that was the begining of macy and her attitude...anyway we she got off she goes watch i can do and sure enough drops herself to the ground puts the lead rope on the horse and heads to the barn. once in the barn she proceeds to show me how she can take of the reins and bridle and insturcted me to watch her horse. her exact words would be "katie put my helmet up and watch josey, ill put the halter on when i get back" and with that she marched off to put the bridle up. well not thinking it would be a big deal i set her helmet down and put the halter on josey and tied her up...WRONG MOVE!!!! next thing i knew macy was standing next to me saying "did i tell you to do that? NO! i told you to watch her...watch me do it" then she took the halter off and did it herself. then i watched as little ity bitty macy kept little ity bitty josey in line as she brushed and fed her treats. then after completing all her "horse chores" she came up to the instructor and i told us her sister was not here and she needed somthing to do. well the instructor looked over at her stall and noticed the helmet (yes the same one i set down earlier) sitting on the floor and asked macy to go put it up. macy put her hands on her hips, stuck her hip out and goes "katie i told you to put that up and you threw it on the floor" i laughed and said well too bad it doesnt fit my head because then i would have to put it up, but since you used it you need to put it up. macy was determined she was not going to it so the instructor turned her around and took her to the stall, put the helmet in her hand and took her to the tack room to put it up. by this time all the other kids were gone and we were still waiting on macy's sister to pick her up. finally we see the little blue car with "only one handle" as macy said pull up. we took macy and her car seat to the car. What a night? Where do these kids come up with this? well i guess when your the youngest of six, you have to have some attitude, right?
